During the first 2 pregnancies I had amnio's but refused in the 3rd despite a very low alphfeto-protein, recommendations from the lab and an unusual head shape on ultrasound. My son was born 3 weeks early after struggling for months with contractions, bleeds etc. I am so grateful for the support of my Obstetrician who was a Chritsian, as I am, and who gave me wonderful support and also to our pastors who supported us in prayer. My son was born in 1987, absolutely perfect and now is a strapping 24 year-old!
please don't give up on these unborn babes - tests can be wrong, things can change, seek support from positive people,Judithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2654455663519806899.post-17812023212181823602011-10-28T21:24:41.522-07:002011-10-28T21:24:41.522-07:00New Zealand is leading the fight for survival of t...New Zealand is leading the fight for survival of the Down syndrome community.

Visit www.savingdowns.comSavingdownshttp://www.savingdowns.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2654455663519806899.post-41101133614959060402011-10-28T11:58:34.905-07:002011-10-28T11:58:34.905-07:00Can you clarify what you mean by "screening&q...Can you clarify what you mean by "screening" in paragraph 4 please. It seems to imply that no pregnancy is tested for Downs Syndrome unless the mother is older. I don't think this is the case. When pregnant in 2009 I could choose whether or not to be screened. Being pregnant this time, I had to actively opt out of the baby being tested for Downs and sign a form, now attached to my notes, to say that I had turned down the chance. Thus I'm fairly sure that it is now a standard part of pre-natal care.

Thanks for the article.Lucy Barr-Hamiltonnoreply@blogger.com
