India has probably o...Thank you for this article. <br /><br />India has probably one of the most liberal abortion laws in the world, the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act of 1972. This act permits doctors to legally perform abortions for 'Failure of Contraception'!<br /><br />As can be imagined, this is a claim that can hardly be verified or challenged. Millions of babies have been aborted as a result.<br /><br />I would think that all doctors who abort babies because of their sex (female foeticide) are also using this and other legal loopholes of the MTP Act. I wish activists who wish to protect the unborn girl child would realise that the single most effective measure needed to do so would be setting up checks and safeguards to ensure that it becomes extremely difficult to perform legal abortions, except when absolutely necessary (in the rare event of an abortion being needed to save the mother's life)Pradeephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07696126197283766968noreply@blogger.com
